In alignment with the President Farish's White Paper, the Instructional Design team works in concert with the Learning Commons to continue to expand services to our faculty  and students as well as more “fully address the teaching and learning needs of an increasing adult learner population, a graduate curriculum and a distance online community through the web and through targeted onsite collaboration.” Our core services to fulfill these goals include:

Support Structures

  • Conduct ongoing faculty development sessions and events to support teaching and learning with technologies that are pedagogically/andragogically sound
  • Provide multi-media support for faculty who are integrating these technologies into their courses
  • Strive to provide exemplary customer service via phone, e-mail, text and walk-in troubleshooting and support for all instructional technologies for faculty and students
  • Provide outreach instructional technology support for all distance faculty and students (especially pertinent to a projected increase in SGCS enrollment)
  • Conduct ongoing training for faculty, students and staff on supported learning technologies, both onsite and virtual

  • Consult with faculty on instructional course design, especially as it applies to expanding alternative delivery methodologies and accelerated scheduling
  • Integrate universal design principles for learning that encompass accessibility concerns
  • Provide custom e-portfolio consultation, design, and development to assess student learning for individual courses and programs

  • Administer Bridges/Sakai Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE)
  • Administer enterprise instructional technologies including (but not limited to):

    • Citrix GoToMeeting/GoToTraining/GoToWebinar Web Conferencing
    • Turnitin Anti-Plagiarism
    • Respondus Quiz Creator
    • iTunesU
    • YouTubeEdu
    • Turning Technologies (clickers) and
    • Vision Classroom Control
  • Support Qualtrics Survey Software
  • Support use of virtual technologies Voice Thread, PollEverywhere, Social Media tools (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) and Google Apps for Education
  • Support use of Android/iOS apps for learning and productivity
  • Support LiveScribe digital pen software
  • Administer Microsoft eAcademy
  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging technologies and work with faculty to evaluate the best tools for the RWU learning environment
