With the support of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy, the U.S. Government Printing Office approved the University’s request to become a Federal Depository Library for the 1st U.S.Congressional District in 1993. This successful designation was based on the quality of library services and our commitment to the Federal Depository Library program. Roger Williams University Library had served as a selective housing site since 1987 for Barrington Public Library and later Newport Public Library.
